The information contained within these pages will show the differences in PhotoImpact 8XL (Ulead's Package) and PhotoImpact 8.5 Pro (Nova's Package).
The only change in the Color picker is the word Ulead has been removed in the Pro version. This could make it a bit confusing for those who write tutorials and refer to the "Ulead" color picker as opposed to the Windows picker.
All of the tasks from PIXL have been included in PRO and as you can see, there are a lot of additional tasks. I'm not sure what they are, but each one starts with Visual open, then applies various settings and saves the image. It resizes the images to a pre-defined size, then saves it.
Again, minor changes. The Pro version does not offer the Smart Download but it does offer an on-line user manual as well as video tutorial links.
The File\New screen has one additional option on the drop-down window. It will take you back to the original blue screen with the choice of projects.
There are no changes to the Component Designer other than the wording on the various images. all references to Ulead have been replaced with the word Text.
I hope you found this document to be helpful. It should be of some use for those writing tutorials if they are using images from the Easy Palette. It should also help you decide which version is best for you when getting ready to make a purchase. It will also put to rest the constant question of.. "what's different?" .
